AIK are set for a busy summer transfer window, and according to Aftonbladet, the Stockholm club have suddenly found themselves with a significant transfer budget at their disposal — raising major questions about how Gnaget plan to use it.
Aftonbladet's 60-minute special programme, hosted by Amanda Diego and featuring transfer expert Daniel "Disco" Kristoffersson alongside TV4's Alexander Axén, digs deep into the state of the club ahead of the window. The verdict from the panel is clear: AIK have the funds, but the pressure is now on to spend wisely.
Axén did not hold back when assessing the stakes involved. "If they don't replace Yohanna and Celina, AIK could get relegated," – Alexander Axén, speaking to Aftonbladet.
The programme reveals that new signings could already be imminent, with reports suggesting AIK may place a bid as early as this week following multiple meetings with a target. The panel also discuss a dream signing they describe as "much more realistic than we might spontaneously think," and flag another available player they say it would be "negligence" for the club not to pursue.
Perhaps most damaging, however, is a behind-the-scenes claim about the club's internal structure. Kristoffersson states he has asked people inside AIK about responsibility for a key area of the club's operations — and found no clear answer. "I asked people at the club and nobody has responsibility for that important part — are you kidding me?" he said.
AIK compete in Allsvenskan, the top tier of Swedish football, and are one of the country's most storied clubs. With the summer window approaching, the experts have also offered their predictions on where the club will finish in the table — adding further intrigue for supporters heading into a pivotal few months.
