Degerfors IF defender Sebastian Ohlsson is on the verge of returning to action after spending four months on the sidelines with a foot fracture, according to kt-kuriren.
The full-back has now completed a full week of training with the Superettan club and is expected to be declared fit for selection in the near future — a major boost for Degerfors as the Swedish league season continues.
The injury originally occurred in a Svenska Cupen match against Trelleborg back in February. At the time, the damage was initially assessed as a sprain, which suggested a relatively short recovery period. However, further examination through X-ray revealed that Ohlsson had in fact sustained a fracture, significantly extending his time away from the pitch.
Degerfors IF, based in the small industrial town of Degerfors in Värmland, currently compete in Superettan — Sweden's second tier — and will be eager to have their defender available again as the second half of the campaign approaches.
Having come through a full week of unrestricted training without setback, the signs are encouraging that Ohlsson can make a swift return to competitive action. The lengthy spell out will no doubt have been a frustrating experience for the defender, particularly given that the true extent of the injury was not immediately apparent when it first occurred.
