Malcolm Jeng's time in the Netherlands is over before it truly began. According to https://www.fotbollskanalen.se/bloggar/sillybloggen/uppgifter-jeng-atervander-till-reims, Feyenoord have decided not to exercise their purchase option on the 21-year-old Swedish winger, meaning he will return to French club Stade de Reims when the summer window opens.
Jeng joined Reims from Swedish side IK Sirius in January 2025, quickly earning a loan move to Eredivisie giants Feyenoord for the 2025/26 season. However, the Rotterdam club's option to make the deal permanent has been allowed to lapse, ending any prospect of a long-term future in the Netherlands for the young Swede.
The primary reason behind Feyenoord's decision is no secret โ a serious Achilles tendon injury effectively wiped out the majority of Jeng's season, robbing him of the chance to make a real impression at one of Dutch football's biggest clubs. It is a frustrating outcome for a player who had been generating considerable excitement as one of Sweden's brightest emerging talents.
Jeng still has plenty of time on his side. He is contracted to Reims until the summer of 2029, giving the club a solid foundation to rebuild around him. It is worth noting that Reims are currently competing in the French second division, Ligue 2, so Jeng will return to a club fighting for promotion rather than the top flight.
Originally from Uppsala, Jeng came through the ranks at IK Sirius before making his move to France โ a rapid rise for a player still only 21. With his contract secure and his best years still ahead of him, the hope will be that a full pre-season and an injury-free run can finally allow his talent to translate on the pitch.
