August Erlingmark, the captain of Swedish top-flight club IFK Göteborg, has got married — and the timing could hardly have been more symbolic.
The Allsvenskan midfielder chose Sweden's National Day, June 6th, to tie the knot, making the occasion doubly memorable. According to Expressen, Erlingmark was full of emotion reflecting on the day.
"It felt like God blessed us beautifully that day. It was wonderful," – August Erlingmark, speaking to Expressen.
Erlingmark has been one of the key figures at IFK Göteborg, one of Sweden's most storied football clubs with multiple league titles and historic European success to their name. As captain, he carries significant responsibility both on and off the pitch.
Choosing Sweden's National Day for the wedding adds a patriotic flavour to what was clearly a deeply personal and joyful celebration for the newly married couple.
With the Allsvenskan season in full swing, Erlingmark will be hoping the happiness from his wedding day carries over into his performances for the Gothenburg club as they look to compete at the top end of the Swedish top flight.
